Mutiny BAY

Four years since the band formed, Mutiny Bay has come a long way from playing gigs in the lounge room. Recent shows have included sets at the Caxton Street Seafood and Wine Festival as well as the Tweed Valley Banana Festival. Mutiny Bay’s sound has also evolved since the early punk rock days. Still staying true to themselves and the music they love, the band members kept their punk rock roots and added Celtic influences, which provide a fun, energetic sound that appeals to new audiences as much as the existing fan base.

October is looking to be an exciting month for the band, with the release of their debut album, The Second Battle of Vinegar Hill. The album will feature some fan favourites, as well as new songs. Various tracks feature special guest Phil Brixton on tin whistle and Uilleann pipes.
Back in the early days the band created an Irish drinking song, which encouraged Adrian to pick up the mandolin. Drawing on his guitar skills, he was able to create melodic tunes that give the band its own sound, setting them apart from other Celtic/folk bands. With Emil on guitar and his passion for punk music undiminished, the band mixes high energy riffs with a Celtic vibe. As the combination evolved, so too did Emil’s and Max’s lyrics. The songs started to take on new depth and maturity, becoming not only musically enjoyable but lyrically as well. With Matt’s diverse ability on drums he was able to quickly adapt to the new sounding songs and was really able to fill out the sound.

Songs are available online at the bands website or various social network sites. You can also purchase the album online from the website, iTunes or at any Mutiny Bay gig. Be sure to keep a eye on these pages as well for gig up dates.
